Sarfaraz Ahmed: “He has shown good leadership”

Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has lauded middle order batsman Saud Shakeel, saying he “has shown good leadership”.
Sarfaraz’s comments come after he worked alongside the 29-year-old during the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Shakeel captained the Quetta Gladiators in the tournament, while Sarfaraz served as the team’s team director.
In the 12 matches he played, Shakeel amassed 237 runs, which included a top score of 59, at an average of 26.33 and a strike-rate of 117.32.
Under his leadership, the Gladiators reached the PSL final, where they lost to the Lahore Qalandars.
Despite this, Sarfaraz praised the Karachi native for his captaincy skills.
“He has shown good leadership,” he told PCB Digital as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Following PSL 10, Pakistan faced Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but Shakeel, who is currently Pakistan’s Test vice-captain, was not part of the squad.
The men in green won the series 3-0.
