Former Pakistan left-arm seamer Sohail Tanvir has praised batsman Babar Azam for making the country proud globally.
He noted that Azam has consistently led by example across all three formats for years and added that “it is always a joy to see him scoring runs”.
Over the last few months, the 30-year-old has not been living up to expectations as his runs have dried up, which has become a major concern.
Despite this, Tanvir is confident that the Lahore native will rediscover his form soon.
“Babar has earned this love and respect through years of consistent service and stellar performances for Pakistan. He has made Pakistan proud globally and it is always a joy to see him scoring runs,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Recently, Azam was in action in Pakistan’s three-match ODI series against New Zealand and made 129 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 43.
He then captained the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and ended up amassing 288 runs in 10 games, which included three fifties, at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 128.57.
Following PSL 10, Pakistan went up against Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but Azam was not part of the side.
The men in green won the series 3-0.
