Karachi Kings owner Salman Iqbal has revealed that Pakistan batsman Babar Azam was never stopped from eating karahi when he played for the franchise in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Karahi is a renowned type of curry in Pakistan and is traditionally made with chicken, mutton or beef.
In addition to letting Azam eat this particular dish, Iqbal added that the 30-year-old was given the freedom to “leave [the] hotel late in the night along with other local players in the team”.
“We never stopped Babar Azam from eating karahi. Whenever Babar wanted to eat karahi, we provided him. He was also allowed to leave [the] hotel late in the night along with other local players in the team,” Iqbal was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Azam no longer plays for the Kings in the PSL as he now captains the Peshawar Zalmi.
In PSL 10, he scored 288 runs in 10 matches, which included three fifties, at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 128.57.
Pakistan played a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh afterwards, but Azam was left out of the squad.
The men in green won the series 3-0.
