Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed still hopes that he will “get another chance” to play international cricket again.

Sarfaraz last represented his country in December 2023 and hasn’t played domestic cricket since September 2024.

He wasn’t selected for Pakistan’s white-ball tour of New Zealand and their three-match T20I series against Bangladesh.

The 38-year-old also didn’t play in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and instead served as the Quetta Gladiators’ team director.

“I still keep some hope alive that maybe I’ll get another chance. I never said that I have to play for Pakistan – of course, it’s every player’s dream to represent their country. I just want to perform well in whatever cricket I play and give my 100 percent,” Sarfaraz told Cricket Pakistan.

Pakistan’s 3-0 victory over Bangladesh was much-needed as the men in green had failed to impress in their last couple of assignments.

Prior to the Bangladesh series, they crashed out in the group stage of the 2025 Champions Trophy after failing to win a single game.

They then travelled to New Zealand and were crushed 4-1 in the T20I series before being whitewashed 3-0 in the ODIs.

Pakistan Squad for Bangladesh T20I Series: Salman Ali Agha (captain), Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Abbas Afridi, Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris (wicketkeeper), Muhammad Irfan Khan, Naseem Shah, Sahibzada Farhan (wicketkeeper) and Saim Ayub
