Pakistan spinner Usman Qadir: “I am fully focused on playing for Australia, and I will continue working hard to make it happen”

Pakistan spinner Usman Qadir has announced that he is actively working towards playing international cricket for Australia.
Qadir, who has represented the men in green in one ODI and 25 T20Is, confirmed that he will be playing domestic cricket in Australia in the near future.
Having grown tired of the cricketing system and selectors back home, the 31-year-old wants to revive his international career, albeit with a new team.
“Everything is going according to plan, and I am working hard to play for Australia. I will give it my all to represent the country… Soon, I will be seen playing domestic cricket in Australia,” Qadir, who is the son of legendary spinner Abdul Qadir, was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
“It was my father’s dream that I play for Pakistan, and I did. But then the circumstances changed – everyone knows what happened. I don’t want to take names because speaking out doesn’t help here.
“Whether I get to play for Australia or not, I will still give my hundred percent. I want to show the world that I’m still good enough for international cricket. In Pakistan, injustice happens, while in Australia, decisions are made on performance and merit. In Pakistan’s team, players make comebacks without performing.
“Now, I am fully focused on playing for Australia, and I will continue working hard to make it happen.”
The Lahore native didn’t feature in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) or the recently-concluded three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which the men in green won 3-0.
