Ishan Kishan: “If I start behaving like (Mohammad) Rizwan, you guys might not give a single decision in my favour”

India batsman Ishan Kishan took a dig at Pakistan ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan, saying if he appealed like the wicketkeeper-batsman does, umpires may not give anyone out.
Kishan made the comments when talking to former international umpire Anil Chaudhary
The 26-year-old noted that players have to be confident when appealing as “umpires have become smarter”.
“I think umpires have become smarter. If we appeal every time, they might even refuse to give genuine outs. It’s better to appeal only when necessary. That way, even the umpires will have confidence that the keeper is calling it at the right time. Otherwise, if I start behaving like (Mohammad) Rizwan, you guys might not give a single decision in my favour,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Rizwan recently represented Pakistan in a three-match ODI series against New Zealand and made 72 runs at an average of 24.
He then captained the Multan Sultans in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and amassed 367 runs in 10 matches, which included a century and a fifty, at an average of 52.42 and a strike-rate of 139.54.
Despite a strong performance in PSL 10, Rizwan was not selected for Pakistan’s ongoing three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which they lead 2-0.
The 3rd T20I will take place on June 1 in Lahore.
