Salman Butt: “Someone tell me if these stats have been beaten by any single player in Pakistan in the last 20 years”

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has thrown his support behind batsman Babar Azam, asking whether the country has produced any cricketer with better statistics than the 30-year-old in the last 20 years.
Azam currently averages 42.77 in Tests, 55.17 in ODIs and 39.83 in T20Is.
Recently, he was in action in the 2025 Champions Trophy and struck 87 runs in two matches, which included a top score of 64, at an average of 43.50.
He then proceeded to make 129 runs in three ODIs against New Zealand, which included two fifties, at an average of 43.
“His Test average with 9 centuries and [29] fifties is [42.77]. One-day average is [55.17] with 19 centuries and [37] half-centuries. In T20Is he has an average of [39], strike-rate of 129. Someone tell me if these stats have been beaten by any single player in Pakistan in the last 20 years. The players who are trying to say they are match-winners, combine them and look at how many matches they have won,” Salman said on GNN HD News as quoted by NDTV.
Azam is now captaining the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has accumulated 170 runs in seven matches, which includes two half-centuries, at an average of 34 and a strike-rate of 114.09.
PSL 10 started on April 11 and will finish on May 18.
