Legendary Pakistan pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar said he only talks about the national team “because I am getting paid”.
He noted that if he weren’t making money, he wouldn’t want to talk about the men in green.
Pakistan’s form has been a major talking point as of late as they recently hosted an ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, where they made it to the final before losing to the Black Caps.
They were then involved in the 2025 Champions Trophy and failed to make it out of the group stage.
The men in green just finished playing a T20I series against New Zealand, which they lost 4-1.
“I would not even wish to talk about [the] Pakistan cricket team. I am only doing this because I am getting paid,” Akhtar said on Game On Hai as quoted by Sports Tak.
Pakistan and New Zealand will now play three ODIs, with the first match beginning on March 29 in Napier.
