Up-and-coming Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rohail Nazir has made it clear that he doesn’t “look at the competition” and is instead focused on himself.
The 23-year-old is fully aware that he has many rivals, but chooses to keep working on his own game so he can give himself the best chance of being called up to the national team in the future.
Nazir added that he knows what he needs to do to become a regular member of the Pakistan side, which includes paying a lot of attention to his fitness.
“I don’t look at the competition, I focus on myself. I have done many international tours, so I know very well what to do. I pay attention to fitness and all and keep myself ready for an opportunity,” he told Cricket Pakistan.
Nazir was not picked for the 2025 Champions Trophy, where the men in green failed to make it out of the group stage.
He also failed to make the cut for Pakistan’s ongoing T20I series against New Zealand, where the men in green trail 3-1 going into the 5th T20I on March 26 in Wellington.
After this, the two teams will play three ODIs, with the first match starting on March 29 in Napier.
