Pakistan batsman Babar Azam: “Firstly, stop calling me a king. I’m not a king yet. Let’s see what people call me when I retire”

Pakistan batsman Babar Azam has urged people to stop calling him a king, saying he is not that yet.
Many people think Azam will become one of Pakistan’s greatest-ever batsmen as he has already broken a number of records.
Lately, the 30-year-old hasn’t been at his best when it comes to scoring runs, but his fans continue to think he is well and truly on the road to greatness.
That said, Azam reiterated that people need to stop saying he is a king. He also questioned what name the public will give him when he retires from cricket.
“Firstly, stop calling me a king. I’m not a king yet. Let’s see what people call me when I retire,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.
Azam recently featured in Pakistan’s ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, and amassed 62 runs in three matches at an average of 20.66.
He fared a lot better in the opening game of the 2025 Champions Trophy against New Zealand as he made 64 runs off 90 balls, which included six boundaries and a six.
Despite Azam’s strong batting performance, Pakistan ended up losing the match by 60 runs.
The men in green will now face India on February 23 in Dubai.
