Legendary Pakistan batsman Javed Miandad has called on the pace attack to stand up and deliver in the ongoing 2025 Champions Trophy.
Miandad noted that the fast bowlers will have to take a lot of wickets since the men in green only picked one specialist spinner in Abrar Ahmed.
Pakistan began their Champions Trophy campaign on a low as New Zealand crushed them by 60 runs.
In the team’s remaining games, Miandad pointed out that the pressure will be on the pacers to step up and do their part in leading Pakistan to victory.
“I am hopeful that the pace bowlers will deliver when it matters for us in this tournament. We have just one specialist spinner and the rest are not regular spinners,” the 67-year-old from Karachi was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Pakistan’s next Champions Trophy match will be against arch-rivals India on February 23 in Dubai.
