Former Australia fast bowler and Sydney Thunder general manager Trent Copeland has heaped praise on Pakistan speedster Mohammad Hasnain, saying he is “an X-factor player” who has the ability to bowl “150 kph deliveries”.

His comments come after Hasnain represented the Thunder in the 2024/25 edition of the Big Bash League (BBL), where he took one wicket in three games at an average of 73.

Despite not having much of an impact, Copeland noted that the 24-year-old from Hyderabad is more than capable of “turning games on their heads” with “match-winning spells”.

“We targeted an X-factor player – someone capable of turning games on their head,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.

“Hasnain stood out. His incredible impact for the club in BBL 11, with 150 kph deliveries and match-winning spells, made him an obvious choice. At just 24 years old, he brings raw pace, wicket-taking ability, and energy to our squad.”

Prior to BBL 14, Hasnain represented Pakistan during their limited overs series against Australia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Against Australia, he took three wickets in three ODIs at an average of 34.

As for the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe, he picked up one wicket in one game at an average of 43.

He also played one T20I against Zimbabwe, but went wicketless.

During the tour of South Africa, he featured in one ODI and claimed one wicket at an average of 41.

Hasnain was not picked for Pakistan’s recent two-Test series against the West Indies in Multan, which finished as a 1-1 draw.
