Pakistan batsman Fakhar Zaman has claimed that head coach Aaqib Javed and the national selectors want him to play in the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Zaman hasn’t play international cricket since the 2024 T20 World Cup and has therefore missed Pakistan’s recent limited overs series against Australia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

The 34-year-old has remained active at the domestic level and recently featured in the Champions T20 Cup, where he ended up being the third-highest run-scorer with 303 runs in 10 matches for the Markhors, which included two fifties, at an average of 30.30 and a strike-rate of 132.31.

Having shown good form, Zaman noted that “everyone wants me to play in the Champions Trophy”, which will take place from February 19 to March 9.

“I spoke to the selectors, the head coach and everyone wants me to play in the Champions Trophy,” the Mardan native was quoted as saying by Geo Super.

The Pakistan team just finished taking on the West Indies in a two-Test series in Multan, which ended as a 1-1 draw.

Pakistan Squad for West Indies Test Series: Shan Masood (captain), Saud Shakeel (vice-captain), Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq, Kamran Ghulam, Kashif Ali, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Huraira, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Noman Ali, Rohail Nazir (wicketkeeper), Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha
