Pakistan batsman Sohaib Maqsood has called speedster Abbas Afridi a star in the making as he is such a difficult bowler to face.

He noted that batsmen find it tough to play premediated shots against the 23-year-old as he possesses numerous variations and “doesn’t give [any] width at all”.

Abbas has become a vital part of Pakistan’s T20I team and recently featured in their three-match series against Australia, where he took six wickets at an average of 6.66.

As for the three T20Is against Zimbabwe, he picked up five wickets at an average of 7.60.

Abbas maintained his momentum in the T20I series against South Africa, claiming three wickets in two games at an average of 25.33.

“Abbas Afridi is such difficult to bowler to plan a premeditate shot [against] as a batsman, [he] so many variations and doesn’t give [any] width at all,” Maqsood said on X, along with a hashtag that stated the fast bowler is a star in the making.

Pakistan are now taking on the West Indies in a two-Test series, which they lead 1-0 after winning the 1st Test in Multan by 127 runs.

The 2nd Test will start on January 25 in Multan.
