Pakistan batsman Fakhar Zaman believes there is a “misconception among people” that left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi “is an angry man”.
Zaman noted that Afridi, who is Pakistan’s pace spearhead, is actually a “very caring and loyal person”.
“Shaheen Afridi is a very caring and loyal person. This is a misconception among people that Shaheen is an angry man,” the 34-year-old was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Afridi was recently in action in Pakistan’s limited overs series against Australia and took eight wickets in three ODIs at an average of 12.62.
In the three-match T20I series, he only claimed one wicket at an average of 107.
Pakistan then travelled to Zimbabwe, but Afridi was rested for both the ODI and T20I series.
He returned for the tour of South Africa and picked up three wickets in two T20Is at an average of 19.66.
The 24-year-old followed it up with seven wickets in three ODIs at an average of 23.28.
Pakistan and South Africa were then involved in a two-Test series, which the Proteas won 2-0.
Next up for Pakistan will be a two-Test series against the West Indies, which will be held in Karachi and Multan from January 16 to 28.
