Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has admitted that he can’t afford to keep getting out in the 40s and 60s.
He noted it is imperative that he start to convert those strong starts into “match-winning hundreds” as that will be the only way the team’s fortunes will change.
His comments come after Pakistan lost the 1st Test against South Africa in Centurion by two wickets.
In that match, Masood failed to have much of an impact as he posted scores of 17 and 28.
“The key lesson for the team and for me is to make starts count. Turning those 40s and 60s into match-winning hundreds will be crucial going forward,” the 35-year-old was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
With Pakistan 1-0 down, they will be looking to bounce back in the 2nd Test against South Africa, which begins on January 3 in Cape Town.
