Atiq-uz-Zaman: “Aaqib will ruin Pakistan cricket. This guy has [a] big ego and I witnessed it at Lahore Qalandars. He ruined UAE too”

Former cricketer Atiq-uz-Zaman believes interim limited overs head coach Aaqib Javed will “ruin Pakistan cricket” because he has “[a] big ego”.
Aaqib has taken over the role Gary Kirsten held before resigning just six months later. He will be in charge of Pakistan’s ODI and T20I teams until the completion of the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Expressing concern for the future of the Pakistan team, Atiq noted that Aaqib has a bad track record of leaving national sides in tatters, pointing to the United Arab Emirates to prove his point.
“Aaqib will ruin Pakistan cricket. This guy has [a] big ego and I witnessed it at Lahore Qalandars. He ruined UAE too,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter, as quoted by Khel Shel.
Pakistan recently faced Australia in a white-ball series and won the ODI leg 2-1 before being whitewashed 3-0 in the T20Is.
Their next assignment will be a limited overs tour of Zimbabwe, where they will play three ODIs and three T20Is from November 24 to December 5.
