Former Pakistan fast bowler Tanvir Ahmed has demanded an explanation from interim white-ball head coach Aaqib Javed and national selector Azhar Ali regarding the selection of Ahmed Daniyal and Jahandad Khan.
Daniyal, a pace bowler, was picked for Pakistan’s upcoming limited overs series against Zimbabwe, while all-rounder Jahandad was included in the T20I squad for the Australia series and the forthcoming three matches against Zimbabwe.
Both players have done well at the domestic level lately, but Tanvir questioned on what grounds they were drafted into the national team.
“Aaqib Javed and Azhar Ali, what is the performance of Ahmed Daniyal and Jahandad Khan, how were they selected,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In the Australia series, Jahandad made his debut in the third T20I, where he scored five runs and took one wicket.
Pakistan won the ODI series 2-1 but were whitewashed 3-0 in the T20Is.
The men in green will now tour Zimbabwe for a white-ball series, which will consist of three ODIs and three T20Is that will be played from November 24 to December 5.
