David Lloyd: “He’s been around the block. He’s played on every surface going. He’s calm, he’s got a calmness about him”

Former England cricketer David Lloyd believes Pakistan middle order batsman Kamran Ghulam has “got a calmness about him” when he is at the crease.
Lloyd noted that Ghulam looks so composed when batting since he has plenty of experience playing domestic cricket.
He added that the 29-year-old probably didn’t feel any pressure when he replaced Babar Azam in the playing XI midway through the three-Test series against England as “he knows what he’s doing”.
Ghulam made his debut in the second Test in Multan and made his presence felt right away as he scored a sensational 118.
Ultimately, he finished with 147 runs at an average of 49 as Pakistan claimed a 2-1 win, which was their first Test series victory on home soil since 2021.
“The clue to all that is he’s [29]. I don’t think he would see any pressure because he knows what he’s doing. It’s not that they’ve replaced Babar with an 18-year-old, a sensational player who’s just come through. They’ve said he’s going to play, this experienced player. He’s been around the block. He’s played on every surface going. He’s calm, he’s got a calmness about him,” Lloyd told PakPassion.
“He goes in to bat, he’s absolutely got the key position of batting. His captain wins the toss and he gets a hundred… He’s done it before. He’d have done that many times before. So the experience didn’t bring on pressure.”
Ghulam is now in action in Pakistan’s limited overs series against Australia, which consists of three ODIs and three T20Is.
In the ODIs, he only batted once and scored 12 runs as Pakistan secured a 2-1 win, which was their first ODI series win in Australia since 2002.
As for the T20I series, the men in green are 2-0 down going into the third match, which takes place on November 18 in Hobart.
Once their tour of Australia concludes, Pakistan will travel to Zimbabwe to play three ODIs and three T20Is from November 24 to December 5.
