Pakistan Test vice-captain Saud Shakeel has admitted that he hates batting against spinners even though he is good at it.

He noted that his average against spinners is “great”, but still despises facing such bowlers.

Shakeel has become an integral part of Pakistan’s batting line-up and has brought much-needed stability to the middle order, which used to be a major problem for the men in green.

In the two-Test series against Bangladesh, he amassed 159 runs, which included a top score of 141, at an average of 39.75.

The 29-year-old from Karachi followed that up with 280 runs in three Tests against England, which included a century and a fifty, at an average of 56.

“I don’t like batting against spinners at all. Although my average against spin is great… I don’t really like it,” Shakeel was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Pakistan are currently involved in a limited overs series against Australia and won the ODI leg 2-1.

However, they have already lost the ongoing three-match T20I series as Australia hold a 2-0 lead going into the third match on November 18 in Hobart.

Following this, Pakistan will head to Zimbabwe to play three ODIs and three T20Is from November 24 to December 5.
