Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal has questioned where spinner Noman Ali has gone.

Noman used to be one of Pakistan’s go-to spinners in Test cricket and had put up a number of impressive performances, including a career-best seven-wicket haul against Sri Lanka in the last match he played, which came in July 2023.

Having not received another opportunity since then, Akmal admitted it is surprising the 37-year-old was axed all of a sudden and started speculating whether he was punished.

“Where has Noman Ali gone? Didn’t he take wickets? Did he get punished? He had appendicitis in Australia, got operated on, and was then sidelined,” he told Cricket Pakistan.

Pakistan recently played a two-Test series against Bangladesh and lost 2-0.

Noman is currently representing the Dolphins in the Champions One-Day Cup, which is a domestic 50-over tournament being held in Faisalabad.

In the one game he played against the Panthers, he went wicketless and conceded 76 runs off the nine overs he bowled.

Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-match Test series against England, which is scheduled to take place from October 7 to 28.
