Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja has taken a shot at top order batsman Fakhar Zaman, saying he is “very hit and miss”.

Zaman has gone through periods of red-hot form, where he scores runs for fun. However, he is also prone to rough patches, where he fails to have an impact at all.

Since the 34-year-old’s consistency can be iffy, Ramiz questioned his effectiveness as one of Pakistan’s go-to batsmen in limited overs cricket.

“Fakhar Zaman is also very hit and miss,” he said on his YouTube channel as quoted by PakPassion.

Zaman recently played in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he was restricted to 33 runs in four games at an average of 8.25 and a strike-rate of 110.

The Mardan native was not picked for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, which Pakistan lost 2-0.

Zaman is now featuring in the Champions One-Day Cup, which is a domestic 50-over competition being played in Faisalabad.

In three matches for the Markhors, he has amassed 119 runs, which includes a top score of 82, at an average of 39.66.

The Pakistan team will be back in action next month when they take on England in a three-match Test series from October 7 to 28.
