Basit Ali: “Shan Masood should punish Shafique. This is Pakistan’s team, not your local team”

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali believes Test captain Shan Masood should have punished opening batsman Abdullah Shafique for the way he got out in the first Test against Bangladesh.
Specifically, Basit wasn’t pleased with the way Shafique was dismissed in the second innings as he was on a rebuilding mission with wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan.
Following Shafique’s dismissal, Pakistan crumbled and went on to lose the match by 10 wickets.
It should be noted that they lost the second Test as well, meaning they were whitewashed 2-0 in the series.
“Shan Masood should punish Shafique. This is Pakistan’s team, not your local team,” Basit said on his YouTube channel as quoted by NDTV.
Shafique ended the series with 42 runs at an average of 10.50, while Masood scored 105 runs, which included a top score of 57, at an average of 26.25.
Both of them are now taking part in the Champions One-Day Cup, which is a domestic 50-over competition being held in Faisalabad.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-match Test series against England, which is scheduled to be held from October 7 to 28.
