Basit Ali: “Babar has the best chance to leave the top batters behind, whether it is Kane Williamson or Joe Root. It is a very easy chance”

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali believes it will be “very easy” for Babar Azam to surpass the top batsmen in the world, including England’s Joe Root and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson.
Azam has been heavily praised for his outstanding batting, especially since he has been Pakistan’s most consistent run-scorer in all three formats for the past few years.
Given how much potential the 29-year-old has, Basit knows he has what it takes to become one of the greatest batsmen of all time.
“Babar has the best chance to leave the top batters behind, whether it is Kane Williamson or Joe Root. It is a very easy chance,” he said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Geo Super.
Azam recently led Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup and finished as the team’s highest run-scorer with 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.
He was then involved in Pakistan’s two-match Test series against Bangladesh and made 64 runs at an average of 16.
Next up for Azam and the men in green will be a three-Test series against England, which will take place from October 7 to 28.
