Former India batsman Aakash Chopra has called iconic Pakistan left-arm speedster Wasim Akram a “complete bowler”.

Wasim is arguably the best fast bowler Pakistan has ever produced as he swung the ball both ways and was renowned for his unplayable yorkers.

Nicknamed the Sultan of Swing, the 58-year-old represented his country in 104 Tests and picked up 414 wickets at an average of 23.62.

The Lahore native is also the second-highest wicket-taker in ODI history with 502 wickets in 356 matches at an average of 23.52.

“I am thinking Wasim bhai. He is among the two Ws – Waqar and Wasim, and Wasim was different. He firstly used to change the angles a lot, bowl over and around the stumps, with a slight round-arm action or high-action as per his wish. Wasim Akram was that complete bowler,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

The Pakistan team recently took on Bangladesh in a two-Test series in Rawalpindi and were beaten 2-0.

Their next assignment will be a three-match Test series against England, which is scheduled to be played from October 7 to 28.
