Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad remains unconvinced about opener Saim Ayub as he has failed to live up to expectations after being given so many chances.
The 22-year-old has featured in 23 T20Is to date and made 309 runs at an average of 14.71 and a strike-rate of 122.13.
As for his Test career, the Karachi native has accumulated 168 runs in three matches, which includes two fifties, at an average of 28.
Given all the hype around Ayub and the fact that he was dominating in domestic cricket, Shehzad questioned why the talented youngster hasn’t been able to replicate that level of success in international cricket.
“What about Saim Ayub’s performance after 25 matches?” he said in a video on X, formerly known as Twitter, as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Ayub recently featured in the two-Test series against Bangladesh and scored 135 runs, which included two half-centuries, at an average of 33.75.
The men in green didn’t do well throughout the series and thus succumbed to a shocking 2-0 loss.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-match Test series against England from October 7 to 28.
