Pakistan batting all-rounder Salman Ali Agha has come to the defence of Babar Azam following his struggles to score runs consistently.
In the recent two-match Test series against Bangladesh, Azam failed to impress as he was limited to 64 runs at an average of 16.
With the 29-year-old facing mounting criticism, Salman pointed out that all cricketers go through bad phases and added that there “are 10 other players in the team” who can stand up and perform.
“Babar Azam is a world-class player. As a batsman, you go through these phases. There are 10 other players in the team too,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Salman amassed 120 runs in the series against Bangladesh, which included a top score of 54, at an average of 40.
He also took three wickets at an average of 58.33.
Despite the 30-year-old having a solid campaign, the men in green still lost 2-0.
Next up for Pakistan will be a three-Test series against England, which is set to take place from October 7 to 28.
