Former India batsman Aakash Chopra heaped praise on legendary Pakistan fast bowler Waqar Younis, saying “he was absolutely lethal with the old ball”.

Waqar is widely regarded as one of the best fast bowlers Pakistan ever produced as he could unleash vicious bouncers, toe-crushing yorkers, and swing the ball both ways.

In his illustrious career, the 52-year-old took 373 wickets in 87 Tests at an average of 23.56.

The Vehari native also played 262 ODIs and claimed 416 wickets at an average of 23.84.

“Then I remember someone who used to come running from far. He too had a slight round-arm action. Just watching him run was a delight. Sometimes with the new ball as well but he was absolutely lethal with the old ball. The bowler’s name is Waqar Younis. His rhythm was worth watching,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

The Pakistan team recently faced Bangladesh in a two-match Test series, which they surprisingly lost 2-0.

Next up for the men in green will be a three-Test series against England from October 7 to 28.
