Dinesh Karthik: “Babar Azam as a player, nobody can doubt his quality. He’s got outstanding batting potential, though I feel he’s under a lot of pressure”

Former India wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik said Pakistan limited overs captain Babar Azam has “got outstanding batting potential”.
Azam has been Pakistan’s most consistent run-scorer for the past few years in all three formats of the game.
Considering how many times the 29-year-old has won matches for his team, Karthik insisted that “nobody can doubt his quality”.
That said, the entertaining India batsman conceded that Azam appears to be under immense pressure, especially since he hasn’t been making big scores regularly and has come under intense criticism for his captaincy.
“Babar Azam as a player, nobody can doubt his quality. He’s got outstanding batting potential, though I feel he’s under a lot of pressure,” he said on Cricbuzz’s Hey CB with DK as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam recently played in Pakistan’s two-match Test series against Bangladesh, but had an underwhelming campaign with the bat, scoring 64 runs at an average of 16.
His performance was one of the many reasons why the men in green ended up being whitewashed 2-0.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-Test series against England, which will take place from October 7 to 28.
