Pakistan spinner Usama Mir said some fans believe he should be taking five wickets every match and never get hit for a six.

Mir noted that he is not a robot and can’t deliver such absurd demands as there are going to be times when he has good runs of form and periods when he doesn’t do as well.

The 28-year-old is currently trying to get back into the national team after a strong domestic season, especially in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he was the highest wicket-taker with 24 wickets in 12 games for the Multan Sultans at an average of 15.87 and an economy rate of 8.13.

“Some fans think players are robots who should take 5 wickets in every match and never get hit for a six,” he was quoted as saying by respected journalist Saj Sadiq on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Mir wasn’t picked for the 2024 T20 World Cup, where the men in green were knocked out in the group stage.

He also isn’t part of Pakistan’s squad for the ongoing two-match Test series against Bangladesh.

Pakistan lost the first Test by 10 wickets and will look to bounce back in the second Test, which begins on August 30 in Rawalpindi.

Pakistan Squad for Bangladesh Test Series: Shan Masood (captain), Saud Shakeel (vice-captain), Aamer Jamal, Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Kamran Ghulam, Khurram Shahzad, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali, Muhammad Hurraira, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Sarfaraz Ahmed (wicketkeeper), Shaheen Shah Afridi
