Pakistan assistant coach Azhar Mahmood is eager for fast bowler Aamer Jamal to return to the Test team as “he has pace and bats aggressively too”.
Jamal turned heads with his performance in his debut Test series, which came against Australia from December 2023 to January 2024.
The 28-year-old took 18 wickets in three Tests at an average of 20.44.
He also made his presence felt with the bat, accumulating 143 runs, which included a career-best knock of 82, at an average of 28.60.
Given the potential the Mianwali native showed against the Baggy Greens, Mahmood wants him playing more often for Pakistan in the longest format.
“He would be a really balanced pick for our side as he has pace and bats aggressively too,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion.
In the ongoing two-match Test series against Bangladesh, Jamal was not selected for both matches as he is recovering from a back injury.
Pakistan lost the first Test by 10 wickets and are now looking to level the series in the second Test, which started on August 30 in Rawalpindi.
