Former Pakistan cricketer Atiq-uz-Zaman said white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten has “started complaining already”.

He noted that the ex-South Africa batsman should resolve the issues he sees within the national team if he possesses outstanding leadership skills.

Following the 2024 T20 World Cup, Kirsten submitted a report to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and reportedly identified serious problems when it came to players’ fitness, discipline and game awareness.

“Gary Kirsten came in and started complaining already. If you had the leadership skills, why are you complaining to the board about it? You should have resolved it while you were there. So, fingers crossed, I hope they do well, but I don’t see things getting fixed quickly,” Atiq was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

In the T20 World Cup, Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India before bouncing back to take down Canada and Ireland.

Even though the men in green triumphed in their last two group stage matches, they couldn’t make it through to the Super Eights.
