Former Pakistan batsman Salman Butt believes Shan Masood should captain the national team in all three formats.

Masood currently leads the men in green in Test cricket, while Babar Azam is the country’s limited overs skipper.

However, after Pakistan’s disastrous campaign in the 2024 T20 World Cup, it remains to be seen whether Azam will continue on as white-ball captain.

Should the 29-year-old be stripped of the leadership role, Salman feels it should handed over to Masood.

“There is some fuss because… despite having skill, players haven’t been able to execute. There is someone who doesn’t have any strategy for planning but still has a lot of attitude. To silence that attitude, I would definitely make Shan Masood the captain,” he said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

In the T20 World Cup, Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India before rebounding to take down Canada and Ireland.

Even though they won their last two group stage games, the men in green failed to advance to the Super Eights.
