Former captain Salman Butt believes Pakistan don’t have a bowler who is half as good as legendary speedster Shoaib Akhtar right now.

Akhtar was a lethal fast bowler who could not only swing the ball, but unleashed devastating bouncers and yorkers as well.

The 48-year-old still holds the record for the fastest ball bowled in international cricket at 161.3 kph (100.2 mph).

Given how formidable the Rawalpindi Express was, Salman reiterated that none of the current Pakistan bowlers are even close to that level.

“There is no bowler in the team right now even half of Shoaib Akhtar’s stature,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

The Pakistan team recently played in the 2024 T20 World Cup and lost to the United States of America and India before rebounding to beat Canada and Ireland.

Despite ending the group stage with a 2-2 record, the men in green were unable to make it through to the Super Eights.
