Jason Gillespie: “Shaheen can miss [the] Bangladesh Test matches due to childbirth. We can give him [some] rest if he wants to stay with his wife till then”

Pakistan red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie has confirmed that left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi could miss the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh due to the birth of his first child.
The series will be held in Rawalpindi and Karachi from August 21 to September 3.
Afridi is a key member of the bowling attack, but Gillespie stressed that the 24-year-old will be granted permission to spend time with his wife and child.
“Shaheen can miss [the] Bangladesh Test matches due to childbirth. We can give him [some] rest if he wants to stay with his wife till then,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Most recently, Afridi featured in the 2024 T20 World Cup and took five wickets in four matches at an average of 21 and an economy rate of 6.56.
Pakistan started their campaign with successive losses to the United States of America and India before bouncing back to defeat Canada and Ireland.
Even though they ended the group stage on a high, it was not enough to get them into the Super Eights.
