Shahid Afridi, the former Pakistan captain, said no one charged India spinner Harbhajan Singh and all-rounder Yuvraj Singh any money when they used to go shopping or eat at a restaurant.
He recalled this memory when discussing the series between India and Pakistan in 2005.
“If you remember the 2005 series, Harbhajan and Yuvraj used to go shopping and to restaurants, and no one used to charge them money. This is the beauty of the two nations,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
His comments came when he was trying to urge India to come to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup and to resume bilateral cricketing ties.
India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since the latter toured India for two Twenty20 Internationals and three ODIs from December 2012 to January 2013.
Since then, the two arch-rivals have only clashed at major cricket events like the World Cup, T20 World Cup and Asia Cup.
India and Pakistan recently faced each other at the 2024 T20 World Cup, with the men in blue triumphing by six runs.
Pakistan also lost to the United States of America, but picked up wins over Canada and Ireland.
Despite winning their last two group stage games, the men in green failed to progress to the Super Eights.
