Pakistan seamer Hasan Ali believes the national team’s bench strength has to be improved as it will make the men in green a more competitive side.
The 30-year-old pointed out that many teams have two sides filled with top-class players, which is something Pakistan needs to aim for if they want to be among the best sides in the world going forward.
He added that if the men in green had two strong squads, there wouldn’t be any need for constant tweaks and changes.
“We should strengthen our bench strength, which every team in the world does. We have seen in the recent past that one country continues to field two teams on international tours. If Pakistan had these two teams today, we wouldn’t have to talk about doing surgery or this or that. Now for example, a Test series is coming up and Pakistan won’t have an alternate spinner. To perform surgery, surgical equipment is essentially needed,” Hasan told Cricket Pakistan.
The Pakistan team recently took part in the 2024 T20 World Cup and lost to the United States of America and India before rebounding to defeat Canada and Ireland.
However, those two victories went in vain as they were eliminated in the group stage of the tournament.
