Mohammad Amir: “I always said he’s my favourite coach and he still is now. When he was with the Pakistan team that was the best time of my career because the belief he has in the players is unbelievable”

Pakistan left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir said Mickey Arthur is his “favourite coach” and always will be due to the belief he had in players.
Amir added that playing for Pakistan when Arthur was head coach “was the best time of my career” as the 56-year-old also knew “the abilities of the players really well”.
Arthur previously served as Pakistan’s team director for a short stint before being removed from the role in January 2024.
Amir is currently involved in the Vitality Blast, where he is playing for Derbyshire, whose Head of Cricket is Arthur.
“I’m looking forward as always to working with Mickey Arthur and it’s a privilege doing that. I always said he’s my favourite coach and he still is now. When he was with the Pakistan team that was the best time of my career because the belief he has in the players is unbelievable as he knows the abilities of the players really well,” the 32-year-old was quoted as saying by respected journalist Saj Sadiq on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Gujar Khan native recently represented Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup and took seven wickets in four matches at an average of 10.28 and an economy rate of 4.50.
The men in green lost to the United States of America and India before bouncing back to beat Canada and Ireland.
Even though they ended the group stage on a high, it was not enough to get them through to the Super Eights.
