Former New Zealand head coach Mike Hesson has advised Pakistan white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten to adopt the mentality of being in full control of the national team.
Kirsten’s first assignment with the men in green was the 2024 T20 World Cup, where Pakistan failed to make it out of the group stage.
Having endured a disastrous campaign, Hesson urged the former South Africa batsman to stamp his authority and make it clear that he is in charge.
“There will come a time when Gary Kirsten says this is my team, this is the way we are going to do it and these are the types of players we want,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In the T20 World Cup, Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India before fighting back to defeat Canada and Ireland.
However, those wins went in vain as they were unable to book their spot in the Super Eights.
