Shaheen Shah Afridi: “He is my role model”

Shaheen Shah Afridi, the Pakistan left-arm seamer, has surprisingly picked Shahid Afridi as his role model.
Shahid is his father-in-law as he is married to the former power-hitter’s daughter.
That said, many would have expected Shaheen to pick one of Pakistan’s greatest bowlers such as Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis or Shoaib Akhtar. However, he chose Shahid over everyone else.
“He is my role model,” the 23-year-old was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
The pace spearhead recently represented Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he took five wickets in four matches at an average of 21 and an economy rate of 6.56.
The men in green started off with successive losses to the United States of America and India before rebounding to beat Canada and Ireland.
Despite finishing the group stage with a 2-2 record, Pakistan failed to advance to the Super Eights.
