Australian power-hitting coach Shannon Young has heaped praise on Pakistan limited overs captain Babar Azam, labelling him a “world-class player”.

Azam has been Pakistan’s most consistent run-scorer over the past few years and has repeatedly won the team matches from precarious situations.

Young’s praise for the 29-year-old comes after they recently met in Pakistan, during which Azam spoke to him about improving his big-hitting abilities.

“He is a world-class player,” Young was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Azam recently captained Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup and struck 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.

The men in green lost to the United States of America and India before fighting back to defeat Canada and Ireland.

Even though they triumphed in those two games, it was not enough to take them through to the Super Eights.
