Rashid Latif: “I will not rate him as a keeper. It is nothing to do with his fitness, but because he doesn’t have that experience. He is still very new and raw to international level”

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has refrained from rating Azam Khan as a wicketkeeper and insisted it has “nothing to do with his fitness”.
Latif pointed out that Azam is very new to international cricket, so it would be unfair to judge his wicketkeeping skills after just a few games.
The 25-year-old has represented Pakistan in 14 T20Is to date and amassed 88 runs in 14 T20Is at an average of 8.80 and a strike-rate of 133.33. He has also taken five catches.
In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Azam failed to have an impact at all as he was dismissed for a golden duck in the only game he played, which was against the United States of America.
“I will not rate him as a keeper. It is nothing to do with his fitness, but because he doesn’t have that experience. He is still very new and raw to international level,” Latif was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India before winning their next two T20 World Cup matches against Canada and Ireland.
However, the men in green were unable to make it through to the Super Eights.
