Kamran Akmal: “We spoke about him (Harbhajan) making fun of Babar Azam. I admit the class of Babar and Brian Lara don’t match and there is no point making comparisons but as cricketers, we shouldn’t be making fun”

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal confronted ex-India spinner Harbhajan Singh for “making fun of Babar Azam”.
Akmal felt Harbhajan disrespected Azam when he laughed after the Pakistan white-ball captain was compared to legendary West Indies batsman Brian Lara.
Even though Akmal admitted that Azam is not at the same level as Lara, he pointed out that Harbhajan shouldn’t be teasing the 29-year-old and acknowledged that the 44-year-old admitted it as well.
“We spoke about him (Harbhajan) making fun of Babar Azam. I admit the class of Babar and Brian Lara don’t match and there is no point making comparisons but as cricketers, we shouldn’t be making fun. He also realised that they shouldn’t have done that,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam recently led Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup and made 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.
The men in green kicked off their campaign with successive losses to the United States of America and India before rebounding to beat Canada and Ireland.
Despite triumphing in those two games, Pakistan failed to advance to the Super Eights.
