Ahmed Shehzad: “It’s your right to rebuke [over performance] but do not body shame him”

Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad has come to the defence of wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan, saying people should not be body shaming him.
Shehzad noted that everyone has the right to voice their opinions about his performance, but they should avoid taking things too far and launching personal attacks.
Azam’s weight and inconsistent performances have made him a regular target for criticism, especially considering he has scored 88 runs in 14 T20Is at an average of 8.80 and a strike-rate of 133.33.
In the 2024 T20 World Cup, the 25-year-old only featured in the match against the United States of America and was dismissed for a golden duck.
“It’s your right to rebuke [over performance] but do not body shame him,” Shehzad was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Pakistan lost their first two T20 World Cup games against the United States of America and India before bouncing back to take down Canada and Ireland.
Despite triumphing in those two games, the men in green were unable to make it through to the Super Eights.
