Former England skipper Michael Vaughan said he doesn’t think Babar Azam should be Pakistan’s T20I captain.

The men in green have struggled under Azam’s leadership and have lost games to teams like Ireland and the United States of America lately.

Vaughan feels that the 29-year-old should give up the T20I captaincy and focus on leading Pakistan in ODIs and Tests.

Azam used to be Pakistan’s Test skipper, but was replaced by Shan Masood when he stepped down in November 2023.

“I just don’t see him as a T20 captain. I see him as a Test and ODI format captain. He excels in those formats as a player,” Vaughan told Cricbuzz as quoted by Geo Super.

Azam recently led Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup and scored 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.

The men in green started off with losses to the United States of America and India before rebounding to take down Canada and Ireland.

Despite those two wins, they failed to make it through to the Super Eights.
