Shan Masood: “They’re equally important to the team. Any competition they have is healthy competition”

Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has made it clear that wicketkeeper-batsmen Mohammad Rizwan and Sarfaraz Ahmed are both important members of the team.
Both players have been in and out of the playing XI lately, with Sarfaraz having been favoured over Rizwan until midway through the three-match Test series against Australia from December 2023 to January 2024.
With both of them vying to be Pakistan’s go-to wicketkeeper-batsman in Tests, Masood admitted that it’s always good to see “healthy competition” between players.
“They’re equally important to the team. Any competition they have is healthy competition,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.
Rizwan was recently in action in the 2024 T20 World Cup and scored 110 runs in four matches, which included a top score of 53 not out, at an average of 36.66 and a strike-rate of 90.90.
Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India before rebounding to beat Canada and Ireland.
Despite ending the group stage with a 2-2 record, the men in green failed to advance to the Super Eights.
