Harsha Bhogle: “I saw a raw Waqar Younis become great, moulded by Imran Khan. This process has stopped. Shaheen and Haris are good, but they could be even better”

Renowned cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle believes the Pakistan pace duo of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf are good right now, but they “could be even better”.
To illustrate his point, Bhogle recalled how legendary Pakistan speedster Waqar Younis was very “raw” upon entering international cricket, but transformed into one of the best fast bowlers ever after being “moulded by Imran Khan”.
He believes the same can happen to Afridi and Rauf, but admitted that someone needs to take on Imran’s role and restart the moulding process.
“I saw a raw Waqar Younis become great, moulded by Imran Khan. This process has stopped. Shaheen and Haris are good, but they could be even better,” Bhogle told Cricbuzz as quoted by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Afridi and Rauf both represented Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup, with the former taking five wickets in four matches at an average of 21 and an economy rate of 6.56.
Rauf, meanwhile, claimed seven wickets in four games at an average of 14.42 and an economy rate of 6.73.
Pakistan lost their first two matches against the United States of America and India before fighting back to secure wins over Canada and Ireland.
Despite this, they failed to advance to the Super Eights.
