Pakistan white-ball captain Babar Azam heaped praise on left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir and spinner Imad Wasim, saying they were “excellent” in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Both players reversed their decisions to retire from international cricket shortly before the tournament and made their presence felt with the ball.
Amir finished with seven wickets in four matches at an average of 10.28 and an economy rate of 4.50.
As for Imad, he took three wickets in three games at an average of 14.66 and an economy rate of four.
“Imad and Amir’s contributions were excellent. Imad excelled in spin bowling, while Amir bowled well with both the new and old ball,” Azam was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India in the T20 World Cup before fighting back to beat Canada and Ireland.
Even though they ended the group stage on a high, it wasn’t enough to get them through to the Super Eights.
