Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif has urged limited overs captain Babar Azam to watch and learn how India superstars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli handle pressure.
Latif noted that batting-wise, Azam is “one of the best” in the world as he consistently scores runs for the team.
However, when it comes to the 29-year-old’s captaincy skills, he admitted that Azam still has “a lot that he needs to learn”.
“He has to learn to carry pressure, he should learn that from Virat and Rohit. They know how to carry the game. As a batter, Babar is one of the best but as a captain and leader, there’s a lot that he needs to learn,” Latif told the Press Trust of India (PTI) as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam recently led Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup and accumulated 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.
The men in green lost their first two games against the United States of America and India before bouncing back to take down Canada and Ireland.
Even though they won their last two group stage matches, it was not enough to earn them a spot in the Super Eights.
