Former India batsman Mohammad Kaif admitted he was extremely disappointed that Pakistan power-hitter Iftikhar Ahmed failed to fire in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Iftikhar only managed to make 23 runs in two matches at an average of 11.50 and a strike-rate of 100.

Kaif pointed out that when Pakistan needed the 33-year-old to rise up in pressure situations, he completely crumbled instead of coming to the rescue.

“When Iftikhar Ahmed got to bat under pressure, the bat didn’t fire,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Pakistan began their T20 World Cup campaign with back-to-back losses to the United States of America and India before fighting back to defeat Canada and Ireland.

Even though they ended the group stage with a 2-2 record, it wasn’t enough to earn them a spot in the Super Eights.
